Every pitcher dreams about getting to the big leagues. Only a few have the talent and perseverance to do so. Every generation a dominant pitcher emerges, taking his team to new heights and winning a championship. Stephen Strasburg is one of the rare few in recent memory who stood out at every level since high school, eventually dominating the major leagues and guiding the Washington Nationals to their first World Series championship in 2019. Strasburg won the World Series MVP for his performance. Early in his 2020 season, Strasburg suffered from a nerve issue in his pitching hand, described as 'carpal tunnel neuritis.' He did not pitch again until 2021, at which time he was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome.
